iNTRODUCTiON

The Deadline was a bulletin board system (BBS) located near Paris, France. It was created in 1993 and was online 24/7 for five years until its closing in 98, mainly due to a lack of motivation and the fact that most of the BBS scene had left for the Internet.

At the top of its fame, The Deadline had two public and one private dialup nodes all running 28.8k modems. Every day the board received on average one hundred calls, transferred tens of megabytes of files, and hundreds of messages.

It was the World Headquarters of scene groups aEGiS cORP and Trance Perfusion, Member Board of Moz[ic]art and The Nasty Team, French HQ of BPC, D.Leria, Damnation, Rhyme, Trash, X-ess, Cathedral, TRT 2001, Hacktion, and Distro Site for Triloxy, Extravaganja, Cubic Player, Inertia Player and XTC Player.
